Our Favorite Local Spots

Mariscos Baja Mar, 6211 E 22nd St

It might sound weird, but a cold and salty Mexican shrimp cocktail is one of the most refreshing meals to enjoy on a hot day. This shrimp truck is also conveniently located in the parking lot of a carniceria, if you are looking for meats to take back for the grill.

Sweetwater Preserve

The trailhead is a 30 minute drive from our home, and it is an easy and enjoyable trail to see dense stands of saguaro cactus. Many other trails connect to Saguaro Vista, but if we’re in a rush, we do the Saguaro Vista + Sun Circle Loop.

Gates Pass

Enjoy the scenic drive through Gates Pass, and stretch your legs on an easy trail through the cactus forest. This is one of Tucson’s best places to watch the sun set.
